Tokyo … Birdseye City View

A breakfast of scrambled eggs and pancakes fit the bill perfectly, thanks to Sarabeth’s, Breakfast Queen of NY and now also in Tokyo!

On the way to the station, we spotted this crossing, a smaller version of the scramble at Shibuya.

First stop was the Tokyo International Forum, an exhibition space built in 1996.  The glass atrium is shaped like the hull of a huge ship … and full of photo opportunities!

Moving on to Kagurazaka, one of Tokyo’s oldest neighborhoods and once a geisha entertainment district.  A few signs still remain in the winding cobbled backstreets, but today it it home to some very exclusive restaurants.

Fortunately, Veg Base was a more reasonable lunch option and we shared a salad bowl before heading to the high street.

Lined with traditional craft and souvenir shops, we browsed and completed our souvenir shopping with some more little dipping sauce dishes that will encourage sushi making when we are home!

Our final stop today is Tokyo City View on the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.

Our ears popped as the lift whizzed upwards.  The 360° view is amazing and we’d picked a great day.  We both spent time taking photos of the cute Tokyo tower and the Bay Area …

… before continuing round the tower towards the sunset … and guess what … yet another Fuji photo op even though it’s 60 miles away!

The lights were coming on as we left …

… and returned to shinjuku for dinner in Zen where Chris loved his veggie okonomiyaki pancake while I had a lighter seafood teppanyaki.

On our way back, Chris bumped into this fellow doing a litter pick … although we barely saw any litter anywhere as the culture is just to take it all home.
